While there are many people behind the scenes that make this possible, for the 2024 season The Sunny Day Adventure Company will rely on Jason Swafford to be the face and head tour guide for the company. Jason has trained in outdoor leadership with NOLS Pacific Northwest, is certified Wilderness First Responder, and holds a U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential.
A native of Western North Carolina, Jason got his start on mountain lakes sometime around the summer of 1978, bouncing around dawn ‘til dusk on the sandy beaches of a then undeveloped and largely deserted Lake James with his Mom and Dad. Ten years later, Jason’s Dad took the family to a lake he knew in his youth, Lake Fontana. This began what is now a more than 30 year love affair with the lake, the mountains around it, and the people who come here. Year after year, Jason along with his family and friends have made Fontana their second home. All that time on the water here has given Jason an intimate knowledge of the lake. He will find a spot out here for your adventure.
